Catherine Ford is a British actress born in Bloomsbury. After her father's divorce from the family, she was grew up by her mother, godparents, and grandmother. When she was a little girl, she was diagnosed with an obsessive compulsive disorder and suffered from anxiety due to the word association. Ford began to become attracted to acting in her teens, she joined the National Youth Theatre. Ford was accepted to Sylvia Young Theatre School but after one week decided she wasn't a good fit. Ford rather than applying to Central School of Speech and Drama and securing a place at the third time made an application and secured a place at Central School of Speech and Drama. Shaun Dingwall would play Pete Tyler who is a character that was recurring in Doctor Who. Ford graduated in 1993. She already made a TV appearance on a show in 1992 called Surgical Spirit. She adopted the stage name Catherine Tate. Tate was featured in such TV shows such like The Bill, Men Behaving Badly and London Burning. Tate was a regular performer on stage and was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company's season 2000-2001. Tate's stand-up comedy style that she started adding to her show in 1996, soon gained her admiration.
